EIF 2009 - Chris Deering

I (Iain/Mentazm) am just back from spending two days at the Edinburgh Interactive Festival 2009. The show has been running for 6 years and I managed to sit in on a group QnA session with the organiser of EIF, Chris Deering.

Chris is best known as being CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Europe from 1995 to 2005. He is currently retired but sits as Chairman of Codemasters amongst other projects.

Here he talks on Sony's PS3 'Home' project, the EIF in general, the EIF's role in the industry and where how he see's the show evolving in the future.

This is the first of two audio QnAs. The audio quality on this one isn't great as my recorder was being held in my hand a distance from Chris, but I have boosted the volume and it is listenable and has some interesting stuff in it. I will be posting the Ian Livingstone QnA tomorrow which is jam packed full of stuff, and is much better quality.

A guy from PS3 Attitude and myself dominated the QnAs btw, hardly anyone else asked any questions. On this recording you can hear me as I'm much louder than the other speakers.

I will be talking on the next podcast about what games I saw and played, the presentations I heard and the show in general.
